I’m a provisional psychologist, artist and soon to be art/creativity therapist/coach based in the Blue Mountains of Australia.
I completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from 1997 to 2000 directly after completing high school. Since then, I’ve gained 20 years professional work experience in the fields of mental health counselling, psychology research, employment services, child protection and disability support.
I also completed a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) from 2006 to 2009. I’ve presented solo art exhibitions, participated in group art exhibitions and contributed to the Sydney art community. Creating and viewing art continues to be one of my passions.
In 2018, I decided to upgrade my psychology qualifications. From 2019 to 2021, I’m undertaking a practical internship (known as the 4 + 2 program) to become a registered psychologist.
In my current role, I provide individualised mental health support to young people age 12 to 25 years as part of the Rural Young Minds service. In my previous role, I provided tailored mental health support to people age 17 to 65 years receiving unemployment benefits as part of a service called Back2Work.
I anticipate achieving full registration as a psychologist in Australia within a few months. I intend to enrol in a Masters of Art Therapy beginning 2022, and develop my own business as an art/creativity therapist/coach.
I’m interested in part-time or contract clinical or research work, particularly related to art or other creative therapies. I’m open to opportunities based in Sydney in-person, or anywhere in the world if it can be conducted online.
My other interests include meditation, yoga, singing, dancing, swimming, bushwalking and visiting new places. The photos in this post were taken on a trip to Oregon, USA.
